Open Water Upgrade Course PADI or IFDI
Introduction
You are already certified as Scuba Diver or equivalent 10 meter diver and want to upgrade to full Open Water Diver / 20m diver. The Open Water Upgrade course is exactly for you.
Prerequisites
You don’t need any previous diving experience to join our Open Water Diver Upgrade Course.
Here’s what you’ll need before you start:
- Minimum age: 10 years old
- Swimming skills: You must be able to swim 200 meters.
- Health: Reasonable fitness and a completed medical questionnaire
What You’ll Learn
During your Open Water Diver Upgrade Course in Koh Samui, you’ll gain the skills and confidence you need. You can explore the underwater world safely. You will also do so responsibly as an independent diver. The course includes:
- Knowledge development: Study diving principles, safety procedures, and ocean awareness independently through e-learning.
- Confined water training: Practice all required skills in a swimming pool.
- Open water dives: Apply what you’ve learned on 2 boat dives around Koh Samui.
Once certified, you’ll be qualified to dive to a depth of 18 – 20 meters anywhere in the world.
Goal
This is the first real step in your dive career. You will learn everything needed to become an independent autonomous diver. You’ll be able to explore the underwater world on your own. (with a buddy)

After earning your Open Water Diver certification, keep exploring, gain experience.
If you’re feeling comfortable underwater, you can move on to our next level. This includes the Advanced Open Water Diver / 30 meter Diver course. The more you dive, the more the ocean reveals.
