White Rock Dive Site — Koh Tao, Thailand

White Rock dive site is one of the largest and most diverse dive sites around Koh Tao, located between the island and Nang Yuan Island in the Gulf of Thailand. It’s a favorite for both training dives and more advanced exploration thanks to its size and variety.

🪨 Site Layout

White Rock isn’t just one rock—it’s a wide area made up of multiple granite pinnacles and coral bommies:

• Main “White Rock” pinnacle – named for its pale color, rises from ~22m to ~10m
• Shallow reef plateau – extensive coral garden ideal for long, slow dives
• Separate bommies and swim-throughs scattered across sandy seabed
• Deeper sections with isolated rocks that attract larger marine life

Because of its size, dive routes can vary a lot—no two dives feel the same.

White Rock is known for high fish density and variety:

• Schools of snapper, fusiliers, and barracuda
• Giant groupers and trevallies
• Blue-spotted stingrays and occasionally eagle rays
• Moray eels, including giant morays
• Batfish and rabbitfish cruising the reef
