Wreck close to Twins
The HTMS Suphairin (313) is a former Royal Thai Navy high-speed attack ship. It was sunk alongside its sister ship to create an “Underwater Learning Park.” It sits perfectly upright on the sandy bottom, looking as if it is still cruising across the seabed.
The “Map” & Orientation
The Suphairin is almost always dived in conjunction with No Name Pinnacle.
- Location: North-West of Koh Nang Yuan.
- The Layout: The wreck sits approximately 15 meters North-West of the main No Name Pinnacle.
- Orientation: The ship lies on a North-South axis, with the bow (front) pointing North.
- Navigation: Divers usually drop on the wreck, explore the hull and deck, and then follow a short heading East/South-East across the sand to finish their safety stop at the shallower No Name Pinnacle.
Key Details
- Depth: 24–28 meters (bottom); the top of the bridge is at 16 meters, and the mast reaches up to 11 meters.
- Dimensions: 44.9 meters long and 7 meters wide.
- Skill Level: Advanced Open Water. While the top is reachable for some, the bottom depth and potential currents make it a deep dive.
- Visibility: 10–25 meters. It’s often clearer than the Sattakut because it is further from the main island’s runoff.
Marine Life
- The New Tenants: Despite being a newer wreck, it has been colonized quickly. You’ll find Batfish hanging out in the water column above the mast.
- Predators: Schools of Yellowtail Barracuda and Queenfish often circle the wreck looking for baitfish.
- Deck Life: Large Groupers have already claimed the underside of the hull, and Honeycomb Moray Eels can be seen peeking out of the plumbing and portholes.
- Macro: Look for Nudibranchs and Pipefish beginning to cling to the railings and the main cannon.
